HEALTH AND SAFETY
We also understand this is not achievable unless all persons are involved. On a project by project basis the appointed supervisor is involved in the design process to ensure that relevant information, as provided by the pre-tender documentation and on-site surveys are known, controlled and ensure relevant information is passed on to operatives involved on the site through site induction and tool-box talk training.
Management safety meetings, including all supervisory staff, are convened on a quarterly basis (or more frequent should changes to legislation/new work methods/machinery/on-site audits dictate) to ensure that hands-on personnel are aware/involved in discussion and decision making. This information is then passed direct to operatives at the work-face through either external or on-site training. This together with the internal training plan, which is prepared in conjunction with CITB / NDTG recommendations, promotes safety consciousness to all our employees.
A site safety officer is assigned to each project and enforces all legislative and client specific safety rules and regulations. Both internal (carried out by our in-house safety officer) and external (carried out by our retained safety consultants) safety audits are carried out on all projects with results available for inspection by all parties.
Due to our company’s family ethos we place our employee’s safety, health and welfare in the highest category of management responsibility. As a minimum standard we provide safe places of work, safe systems of working (prepared on a site-specific basis) and continual maintenance of plant and equipment.
